High winds snap Boundary Mill Christmas tree

Fierce winds caused the huge Christmas tree outside the front of Colne’s Boundary Mill to snap this morning.

The torrential weather has been causing havoc throughout the North-West today, with Lancashire firefighters receiving 30 weather-related calls in just three hours.

A Boundary Mill spokesman confirmed that there had been no injuries as a result of the incident at Vivary Way, and added: “We are very fortunate that we have got a good maintenance team.

“Everything has been cleared up, and everything is back to normal now.”

Winds were reported to reach speeds of up to 70mph this morning, with motorists warned to take caution by the Highways Agency. Gale force winds are also forecast tomorrow.
