Padiham Leisure Centre is set to re-open following a £50,000 refurbishment.

The centre has undergone £50,000 worth of essential maintenance work and will reopen on Sunday, August 17th between 10am and 4pm.

A Get Going event, part of a national campaign organised by UKactive and Change4life encouraging people to be more active and get moving, has been organised.

The event will include free activities including a pool inflatable session for children, public swimming, ballroom dancing, hip hop street dancing session and outdoor activities.

It will also incorporate the 10th annual Mayor’s Mile, a fun run around Memorial Park.

For one day only there will be no joining fee for those who wish to sign up as a member of Burnley Leisure Fitness membership, saving £25.

Manager Garry Stein said: “The essential work for the facility has been required to secure the long term future of Padiham Leisure Centre as it approaches its 45th year.

“Since its opening in 1969 the centre has been the hub of the Padiham community and with regular freshen-ups it will continue to serve the people of Padiham and surrounding areas for many years to come.”

Further details on the event can be obtained by contacting the centre on 01282 477222 or on email leisure@burnley.gov.uk.

The second phase of maintenance and investment is scheduled for December. The centre will remain open to the public during this period.
