A FITNESS fan has set her sights on bringing the Miss Universe crown to Burnley.

Catherine Hosker-Brothers (28), of Palace Street, won the Miss Toned Figure title at a UK body building championships and also clinched fifth place in the Miss World and Miss Universe competitions this year.

An engineer at Fort Vale, Nelson, she became the first woman in Britain to compete in both top Toned Figure championships. But now Catherine, who has been competing for two years, is determined to beat the biggest names in the sport in 2012.

She said: “The Universe was the best competition I have done. It was buzzing. It is one of the biggest competitions in the world, for the champions of champions. I know I can go to the top. I think it could be my year next year. I am going to carry on working hard and see where it takes me.”

As well as winning world titles, Catherine wants to cement her status as Britain’s best female body builder in the toned category. With victory at the National Amateur Body-Builders’ Association UK finals, she is on her way. She said: “The judges said this was the best condition they had ever seen me.”

Her daily exercise routine includes a 45-minute cardio session before work. She is back in the gym at night for weights followed by 45 minutes on the treadmill. “I push myself to the limit,” she said. “It is about attention to detail and improving every area of your diet and physique.”
