A young Burnley dad who is suffering from terminal cancer has been told the disease has spread to his brain.

Now Tom Cooper (26) fears he may not live to see his youngest daughter start school and has drawn up a bucket list of things he wants to do.

His wife Tammy (25) said Tom was taken into hospital last week where scans revealed a number of tumours in his lungs and cancer in his brain.

Now back home in Greenbrook Road he is yet to find out whether he faces gruelling radiotherapy.

“If he carries our youngest daughter he gets out of breath.

“We were supposed to be seeing Tom’s consultant about him trialling a new chemotherapy drug but after this latest news, all that has to be put on hold while they concentrate on treating his brain.

“He may have to have tablets to slow it down or full head radiotherapy. The doctors have now told him not to drive because a tumour on the brain can cause blurred vision, seizures and headaches.”

Tom’s bucket list includes going to a Manchester United game with family and friends, visiting Paris and the Eiffel Tower, having a trip to London and travelling to see the Northern Lights. Also on the list is to thank everyone who has helped Tom and his family since his diagnosis with nasopharyngeal carcinoma in 2011.

The couple, who have two daughters, Tienna (6) and Ziani (3), were wed at Towneley Hall in April last year after friends, family and complete strangers rallied round to plan their dream ceremony.

Tammy added: “At the moment we are still in shock. It would be great for him to be able to do the things on his bucket list.

“He’s very quiet and he never speaks about it but if he can make it to Ziani’s first day at school in September 2014 he’ll be happy. It’s really hard for him. If he can do some of the things on the list it will help him.”
