“A little boy too beautiful to be on this earth” was the touching tribute made by his devastated parents following the death of their 16-week-old baby.
James Anderson and Barbara Allen described their baby boy William as “a proper man” who fought valiantly despite being born eights weeks premature and with a heart condition. The heartbroken couple from Coal Clough Lane will include their son’s name as part of their wedding vows when they marry in August and hope to set up a charity in his memory to help other parents of poorly children.
James (45) said: “Despite being born with a heart condition, William showed he had lots of heart and amazed everybody.
“He weighed just 2lb. when he was born and despite catching lots of infections and having a bowel operation fought on as best he could. I feel honoured to have been his dad because he has given us courage and strength as a family and created a closer bond between us all.”
The couple want to raise money for Ronald McDonald House which provides accommodation for families at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where William died.
Barbara said: “We want to thank everyone who cared for William at Burnley General and Alder Hey, as well as friends who have been a tower of strength. Our children Paige, Declan, Joshua, Annalise and Tommy have been brilliant too.” A Facebook page, William’s Wishing Well, has been set up.
