Janette Taylor, who runs Hartbeeps music and sensory classes for babies and toddlers, has come through stiff competition from 5,500 nominations to win three What’s on 4 Awards at a ceremony at Chessington World of Adventures.

The awards scheme, which is now in its tenth year, recognises the best activities and classes throughout the UK as nominated and voted for by parents.

Hartbeeps scooped the “best national activity for children 2-5”, was awarded highly commended (second place) in the “best national baby activity” category and Janette Taylor, who owns Hartbeeps East Lancashire, won highly commended in “the most outstanding session leader West and Wales” award.

Janette, who lives in Colne, and her team run Hartbeeps for parents and children in Foulridge, Barrowford, Burnley, Thornton Hall Farm Park and will soon be expanding in to Clitheroe.

The group also run special sessions in nurseries and schools throughout East Lancashire.

In each session, Janette and the team take little ones and parents on a musical journey created through the use of puppets, lighting effects, their very own original and fabulous contemporary music, innovative and unusual props and sensory experiences and play.

Janette said she was “totally surprised” and “humbled” to win the awards.

She said: “Being a part of families and children’s lives through Hartbeeps is an absolute pleasure and a privilege.

“To be a finalist, there were just 50 out of 5,500 nominations, was utterly amazing and I really didn’t expect to win anything – just being there felt like winning to me.

“The best bit was getting to read some of the comments from parents that reflected that Hartbeeps was so much more than just another group they go to.

“They see it as being integral to their child’s development, a place that has helped them get through some of their hardest times as parents and that has made the precious times with their little ones all the more precious.

“Those words are worth more than any award to me but it was also truly humbling to win. Our Hartbeeps East Lancashire team is growing and we look forward to bringing the magic of Hartbeeps to more families, locations and nurseries in the next year.”
