Hapton singer (14) to join stars on stage at Towneley Live

the country’s latest singing sensation could just have been unearthed right here in Burnley.

Nicole Talmer (14) was in fine voice as she wowed a judging panel of music executives to win the Towneley Live singing competition.

The promising songstress, who lives in Hapton, will now experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when she performs alongside the likes of N-Dubz, McFly and Scouting For Girls in front of thousands of screaming fans at the Towneley Live festival on Saturday, August 13th.

She will also be releasing her first single “Every Day” through Doc Redeye Music and Mr Steve Reid, who will be working alongside ACE Centre sound engineer Andrea Quarin to produce the single, said Nicole was a worthy winner.

“She was really impressive on the night and has a wonderful voice,” he said. “We’re really looking forward to working with her and it was also so encouraging on the night to see how much talent there is in the area. There were some really strong performances.

“The night was compered by John Riding and every time he introduced a singer we were treated to an outstanding professional performance. It really was a night to remember.”

Nicole, a pupil at St Christoper’s CE School in Accrington, is no stranger to the stage having already performed with Higham St John’s Church choir and Basics youth theatre group, and last year was the winner of Higham’s Got Talent.

The Towneley Live competition was held at Nelson’s ACE Centre with a judging panel comprising Bobby Elliot (The Hollies), Andrew Falkner (head of A&R Jet Records), Ryan Oxley (lead singer with Juice) and Mags Walker (Practical Marketing).

Mr Reid added: “We’re thrilled with how the event has gone especially given that we didn’t have much time to organise it. We’re hoping to bring it back next year making it bigger and better.”
