HAPPA seeks your votes for national award

The Briercliffe-based Horses and Ponies Protection Association has made it to the official shortlist to become Horse and Hound magazine’s Charity of the Year – and wants supporters to place their vote to support to ensure it wins this prestigious title.

As part of Horse and Hound’s 130th anniversary celebrations, one UK-based equine charity will be chosen as charity of the year. The chosen charity will receive a financial lump sum from the magazine, as well as a number of opportunities to work with the publication during the next 12 months.

Having received thousands of suggestions, the Horse and Hound team whittled that list down to just 19 charities – and HAPPA is delighted to be one of the nominees.

“The opportunity to work with such a well-known equine magazine will certainly make a difference to HAPPA, allowing us to reach more people within the industry that we can work with or assist if necessary”, said HAPPA Development Officer Julie Rickwood-Gan.

“The need for HAPPA’s services are greater than ever and during the changes in the economic climate we have seen donations fall, the financial lump sum awarded to the winner would make significant difference to our work and the equines in our care.

“I hope all HAPPA supporters take this opportunity to assist the charity by simply placing their vote online. It is free to do this and local support is vital and greatly appreciated. It would be a great boost for HAPPA and the North West if we win!”

Voting closes at noon on Wednesday.
