A BURNLEY school has made friends with its a new neighbour.
Following Hameldon Community College’s move into its new home in Coal Clough Lane, the school’s headteacher Miss Gill Broom met with the managing director of PVCU window manufacturer VEKA, Mr David Jones.
The school is now based just 500 yards from VEKA, and the two hope to build a long-term partnership.
Businesses can play a vital role in the development of skills within schools and Mr Jones said that “with VEKA’s long history of involvement with the community we were in a great position to work with the school and its students”.
VEKA has already taken part in careers events and industry days, has signed up for mock interview days and will mentor students in the production of their next newsletters, as well as many more events in the coming months and years.
