Charles Ferguson Brown, or Fergus as he was known to family and friends, died on October 22nd after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease last December.

Now, Wayne Farrow (41) will be running 13.6km every day until Monday, November 30th, after starting the gruelling task on Sunday, meaning he will run a staggering 408km in one month.

Wayne, who is a wedding and corperate singer, said: “Myself and Fergus have been friends for several years, he was a fantastic man who always put others first.

“So I just wanted to do something in his memory to raise awareness of the disease and to raise money for the charity.”

Wayne will run the length of the canal by setting off on his runs from Crow Wood Leisure every day before running varying routes to keep things fresh.

He already has some well known faces joining him on some of the runs, including radio presenter Tony Livesey, Nathan Moore from 1980s rock band Brother Beyond, and swing singer Russell Shaun.

However he’s still inviting anyone that wants to come down and get involved to join him on his runs.

“The more people that get involved the better really.

“I’m hoping to get a lot of people involved to spread the word and get people donating to a fantastic cause.”
