Grease is certainly the word at Blessed Trinity RC College in Burnley as they take to the stage at the Mechanics next week.

A 100-strong cast will be treating audiences to three ‘Summer Nights’ from next Wednesday to Friday, with Friday already sold out.

‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’ Sandy will be played by Lois Duffy and Bella Withnell while Greg Worden will be strutting to ‘Greased Lightnin’ as Danny Zuko.

Year 10 Greg said: “I have watched Grease over and over again since I knew we were doing it. I did originally audition for the part of Kenickie but I am happy with Danny.

“I am part of Burnley Youth Theatre and am studying GCSE music so I hope to do something with those in the future.”

Lois is hoping to go to Pendleton School of Performing Arts when she leaves Blessed Trinity and study Musical Theatre.

She said: “I am really excited about playing Sandy, I love her songs.”

The school is known for its strong theatre productions, staging Oliver! and Bugsy Malone in the last few years.

The event will also be in aid of the Padiham charity Jet Set Angels, which is raising funds for Tia Taggart who is at St John the Baptist Primary School and is battling cancer.

Tickets for the event are £6 adults and £3 concessions with a 7pm start. Tickets are available from Blessed Trinity and Burnley Mechanics.
