Glebe Street community land disposed for housing

New homes are set to be built on land in Burnley Wood which has been the scene of a fierce political argument.

Burnley Borough Council’s ruling Executive Committee voted unanimously to dispose of the land bounded by Glebe Street, Kirkgate and Parkinson Street.

Despite objections from users of the Burnley Wood Community Centre, which has been demolished as part of the plans, developers Keepmoat now plan to build 117 new homes as part of the plans.
