Their bosses at Robert Scott were so impressed with the women’s efforts that they decided to chip in, adding more than £800. The walkers presented a £1,724 cheque to Pendleside Hospice.

Said organiser Sarah Brennend: “We had a great time on the walk. There were the six of us from work and some of our families and friends took part as well. It is great that management added over £800 to our total. Most people know friends and/or family members who have used the hospice’s services at one time or another so they were really keen to support us”.
