Funeral of Pendle man killed in quad bike accident

The funeral of a Pendle man killed in a quad bike accident in Australia earlier this month will be held on Friday afternoon.

Scott Thompson (27), the son of Lynne and Stephen Thompson, of Sansbury Crescent, Nelson, died when the bike he was riding was in collision with a truck in the state of Victoria on February 4th.

The former soldier had been travelling with his girlfriend, Sami Allott, and had been in Australia for the last four months.

Scott, popularly known as “Rhino”, was a former pupil at Bradley Primary School, Nelson, and Primet High School, Colne, and worked as an upholsterer before joining the Army in 2010.

He served in the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment as a Kingsman, spending time in Cyprus, before leaving last year to go travelling with Miss Allott.

The funeral cortege will leave his parents’ home at 2pm for a service at Holy Trinity Church, Colne, to be followed by cremation at Burnley.

He is survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
