The funeral of teenager Jackson Pickering, who died last month after a road accident, will be held on Friday.

The service will take place at Burnley Crematorium at noon. Donations are being accepted in Jackson's memory for the British Heart Foundation c/o Alderson and Horan Funeral Services in Rossendale Road, Burnley.

Jackson, who was 18, died after the accident in Springfield Road, Burnley, on Saturday, June 16th.

Jackson, who was one of six children, was an avid football and Liverpool fan, who was passionate about the game.

He played for a number of local Saturday and Sunday league teams, even scoring a penalty at Turf Moor in a schools competition.

His family said Jackson had a "heart of gold" and a large circle of friends who would "sorely miss him."

Since his tragic death the community has pulled together and raised the magnificent sum of £3,600 to help Jackson's family with funeral costs.

A football tournament held last weekend raised £1,537.

The idea for the football tournament came from Mandy Duffy who lost her own son, Declan Edwards, in 2014 at the age of 16.

A football match was held then to help Mandy and her family organised by Burnley man, Ben Charlton, who also arranged Sunday's event.

In a poignant twist, the friends of Jackson played against a team made up of the friends of Declan.

The pair were pals who both attended Unity College in Burnley and Jackson played in the charity match set up in Declan's name after his death.

Held at Queen's Park in Burnley, the tournament brought the grand total raised for Jackson's family to the magnificent sum of £3,637.

Donations on a crowdfunding page totalled £1,700 and the sale of a shirt owned by Oliver Norwood, a professional footballer from Burnley who now plays from Brighton, made £400.
