Fund-raising ball in memory of brave Angela

The family and friends of a Colne woman who died of bone cancer are holding a fund-raising event in her memory.

Angela Lawson (41) lost her battle with the disease five years ago and a masquerade ball is being held to raise money for Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope where she was cared for.

Angela, who lived in Talbot Street, was first diagnosed with breast cancer aged 29 and was given the all-clear until 2006 when the disease returned in the form of an aggressive bone cancer.

At the age of just 38 she was told that she would not live to see 40 but following a brave battle she lived until just short of her 42nd birthday.

The ball will be held on Saturday, August 8th, at the Union Exchange in Colne. Tickets are £10 and include entertainment and food. A family fun day will also take place at the Market Street venue on Sunday, August 9th.
