Children at an orphanage in Tanzania will have chairs to sit on to do their lessons thanks to a group of actors and singers in Burnley.
For St Cuthbert's Operatic and Dramatic Society have donated 100 chairs to the national charity Furniture for Education Worldwide.
Launched in 2008 the charity sends all surplus and redundant furniture from old schools to deprived areas around the world where schools have little or no facilities and students are forced to do their lessons sat on the floor or resting on their bags.
When the society, which is sponsored by Althams Travel Ltd, found itself with 100 chairs that were surplus to requirements, members contacted the charity to see if they would be of use.
Anyone who may want to find out more about the charity and how they could help or become involved can visit their website at www.fewcharity.co.uk.
St Cuthbert’s Operatic and Dramatic Society will be performing Half a Sixpence from Monday to Saturday, November 7th to 12th in the community hall, Sharpe Street. For tickets please phone Elaine on 01282 534519.
