Free car repair for Burnley cancer victim dad (24)

A BURNLEY cancer sufferer whose car was targeted by mindless vandals is to have the vehicle repaired free of charge after a kind-hearted garage owner read his story in the Express.

Last month we revealed how Tom Cooper (24) and his girlfriend Tammy Dale (23) were left devastated after paint was poured over their Ford Fiesta which they use for vital hospital appointments.

After reading the article Burnley man Mr Chris McCormick, who lives off Pendle Way and has a motor body shop in Whalley, offered to do the repairs.

Mr McCormick, who owns Whalley Motor Bodies, said his wife Shirley has been battling cancer and the couple know how important it is to have transport to and from hospital appointments.

He said: “I’ve just gone through three years of that with my wife. I know the importance of having a car.”

Tom said: “We are really pleased. This just goes to show there are some good people out there.”

The car is due to be repaired this week.
