Former head boy qualifies as a GP

A FORMER head boy of Habergham High School has become a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

Dr Gareth Watson (30) was born and brought up in Burnley and educated at Whittlefield Infants, Wellfield Church School, Habergham High and its sixth form centre.

He then went on to study medicine at Manchester University and during his degree course undertook training placements at Burnley General Hospital and a GP practice in the town.

Dr Watson started his medical career as a house officer at what is now the Royal Blackburn Hospital. He then moved to work in South Manchester, undertaking extra training to become a GP.

He now lives in South Manchester where he works as a locum GP.

Dr Watson’s parents, Paul and Susan, live in the Ightenhill area of Burnley.
