Former Burnley and Pendle nurse stranded in Portugal

A family have issued a heartfelt plea to “Help Doreen Home”.

Former Burnley and Pendle nurse Doreen Blackburn is currently stranded in Portugal after suffering two major strokes.

Her relatives are simply unable to afford the £12,000 it would cost to get back her back to England, and have been left with no other option than to appeal for help.

Less than a week before having the strokes in November, Doreen, who had worked at Victoria Hospital, Burnley General Hospital and at Rolls-Royce, had expressed a desire to return home. She had moved to the European country with her husband Maurice 15 years ago.
