An amateur football club secured the right result when it produced commemorative pennants and donated money to the Royal British Legion.
Rosegrove FC also explained to its junior members the importance of Remembrance Day and what it means.
Martyn Halliwell from the club said: “Each year we buy poppies to put on our players’ kits, however after much thought we decided to do a commemorative pennant to mark our respects as we felt this was a a keepsake for each club and something that has never been done before.
“Before every game the managers got their teams together and had a five minute talk about Remembrance Day and what it means. It was great to find out that so many children knew so much about it.
“Team captains then gave a remembrance pennant to their opposition captain before each of this weekend’s games.
“We also handed a pennant to Clifford Heaton from the legion and veteran Ken Dawson.”
The club donated £75 to the legion from money saved not buying poppies for the shirts.
