Several black bags were spotted with rubbish strewn all over the grass.

Some residents commenting on the Padiham Community Talk Facebook group blamed the closure of the town’s recycling centre for the fly-tipping.

A Burnley Council spokesman said: “As soon as we became aware an officer was sent out to the site and the rubbish is due to be cleared. It seems the bags were full of household recycling rubbish.”
