Five in court after raid at Nelson jewellers

FIVE men have been charged in connection with the attempted robbery at a Nelson jewellers.

The men, who are all in their 20s and from Birmingham, will appear at Burnley Magistrates’ Court today.

All are charged with attempted robbery and one with the added charge of dangerous driving and resisting arrest.

They were arrested in the Swinton area of Manchester.

On Friday, around 2-50 p.m., the City of Gold store in Manchester Road was raided by masked men. No jewellery was taken.

Local police have said they are working with Greater Manchester Police and West Midlands Police.
