Firefighters in Burnley deer rescue bid

FIREFIGHTERs were called to rescue a deer which got stuck in the canal in Burnley.

The incident happened at 6-50 a.m. this morning on a section of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal behind the Queen Victoria pub in Queen Victoria Road.

Fire crews from Burnley and Nelson used specialist equipment to try to pull the animal to safety.

A representative from the RSPCA was also at the scene but the deer managed to free itself after an hour.
