Fire crews race to scene after vandals set fire to litter bin on outskirts of Clitheroe town centre

Firefighters were called out twice yesterday to tackle blazes in Clitheroe.

The first call came just after 6am to a fire in an electrical substation on West Bradford Road.

Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the flames.

Later in the day, at 2-35pm, two fire engines from Clitheroe were called to Railway View Avenue after a bin outside a public building was set alight.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, a tactical ventilation unit and one hose reel to extinguish the fire. They were at the scene for half an hour.
