Fence husband dies after bypass car crash

THE elderly husband of a woman killed in a car crash has died.

Mr Stewart Graham (85) died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Thursday where he was being treated for a broken neck following the crash on the Padiham by-pass on Wednesday, May 3rd.

His wife Mrs Norah Graham (85) died immediately following the accident which happened when their Vauxhall Astra collided with another Vauxhall Astra near to the Bay Horse pub, Fence. It was the same day as the devoted couple’s 65th wedding anniversary.

The couple, who lived in Fence and worshipped at St Philip’s RC Church, Padiham, were keen fans of Accrington Cricket Club and enjoyed meals out together. It is believed they may have been out for their lunch when the accident happened.

The tragic incident has left the Fence community in shock with many people commenting on the Grahams who were described as “lovely people”.

The 52-year-old woman driver of the car, from Burnley, and a passenger were taken to hospital with whiplash but later discharged.
