The pals, whose children all attend Burnley’s St Mary Magdalene’s RC Primary School, joined forces to take part in the 5km Pretty Muddy obstacle course at Preston’s Avenham Park. And they hope to have raised £400 between them.

Liz Ferguson, Frances Anforth, Lisa Jackson, Karen Owen and Andrea Walker were among thousands who dressed up in pink for the challenge which was organised by Cancer Research UK.

Known as the Pink Army the mums crawled, climbed, bounced and splashed their way through Preston’s finest mud anda series of obstacles and they loved every minute!

Liz said: “The idea to take part came from a conversation on the school yard at pick up time and before we knew it Frances had us all booked on and in training.

“I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much. We had a great day and thoroughly enjoyed getting downright dirty whilst raising much needed funds for cancer research.”
