Fatal road smash - police urge witness to come forward

POLICE are appealing to the driver of a black hatchback car to come forward following a fatal road accident in Haslingden in May.

Aftal Azram (43), from Rochdale, was killed following the collision around 10-30 p.m. on Friday, May 27th, in Grane Road outside the Holden Arms pub.

He was driving a black BMW towards Haslingden when, for unknown reasons, his car crossed onto the opposite carriageway and collided with a silver Ford Mondeo estate.

Mr Azram was cut out of his car but died as a result of his injuries.

Police are now keen to speak with the driver of a black hatchback who was also travelling along Grane Road around the time of the collision and was possibly overtaken by the BMW.

The male driver did stop at the scene and spoke with a number of other witnesses before leaving by driving down Holcombe Road.

Sgt Mick Young said: “I am very keen to speak with the driver of the black hatchback, he could provide us with vital information which could greatly assist with this inquiry.
