Family tribute to '˜hit and run' victim Keith (69)

Police have officially named the man who was killed in a suspected hit and run in Colne on Thursday night as Keith Robinson (69) from Burnley.

Mr Robinson was crossing Albert Road outside The Muni at 10-20pm when it is believed a Vauxhall Corsa, travelling from Colne towards Nelson, collided with him, failing to stop.

He suffered serious head injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A family tribute released through the police said: “Keith was a loving dad, brother and uncle.

“He was an avid rugby fan, who also enjoyed listening to music and going to concerts.

“He was well regarded by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.

“The family wish to thank everyone for their assistance at the scene and urge anyone who may have seen anything, no matter how small they think it is, to come forward.”

A 50-year-old man from Burnley who was arrested by police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released without charge.

A second man, aged 22, from Colne, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop has been bailed until April 28th.

A 23-year-old man from Nelson who was also arrested by police on suspicion of assisting an offender has also been bailed until April 28th.

A Vauxhall Corsa similar to the one described in the collision was later found in the Colne area.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
