FAMILY HISTORY – Queen Street Mill Museum will host a family history day, led by Peter Park, on Saturday, March 26th, from 10 a.m. to 4-30 p.m. There will be records used in tracing family histories and demonstrations of how to the use the Internet to trace family history. RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION – Briercliffe Residents’ Association will hold its open day at Jubilee Street community centre on Saturday, March 19th, from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be questionnaires to fill in, a police surgery, free bike marking and free bacon butties.
MOTHERS’ UNION – St James’s Mothers’ Union held its AGM and elected a new committee: Pauling Howarth (enrolling member), Thelma Clegg (treasurer), Audrey Holdsworth (branch contact) and Pauline Catlow (committee). Members also paid tribute to the work of the late Jean Downie. The next full meeting will be held at St James’s vestry, on March 22nd, when Saeedah Mehmood will talk about Islamic weddings.
