They have taken to social media to thank people for raising awareness of her ordeal yesterday in the hope that the abductor, who they described as an “evil creature and a ”monster” will be caught soon, before he could strike again.

While saying they could not go into many details, they posted on Facebook that the little girl “was playing just mins away from our home.

“She’s been bundled into a man’s car boot and then later dumped in Hapton.

“She’s only six - I am only sharing this so publicly for you all to be more aware and vigilant, please keep your children indoors.”

They added that the little girl was taken “in a matter of mins” and wanted him caught for their family member’s sake as well as “anyone else’s sake as well, especially as the school holidays are here.”

They went on: “If anyone, and I mean anyone has any info please tell me. As I said I can’t go into too much much detail of what’s happened but I want this evil creature caught. He is a very dangerous man,”

They said they were “counting their lucky stars” the little girl “is still with us.”

A police manhunt has been launched after the six-year-old who was playing on her bicycle, was snatched from Nairne Street around 4pm yesterday.

She was bundled into the man’s black car after he spoke to her in the street and taken on the three-mile journey to Hapton, where she was left in Whitefield Street some 20 mins later and found by members of the public in a “very distressed” state.

The man is described as white, with a tanned complexion. He is believed to be aged in his 40s and is bald.

Det. Chief Insp. Joanne McHugh, from East CID, said: “This investigation is very much in its early stages and we are determined to find out exactly what has happened to this young child and to catch the man who has done this.”

She added: “I would like to reassure the public that while incidents of this kind are rare, we have stepped up police patrols in the area.”

She went on: “I urge anyone who may have seen this vehicle, anything suspicious in the time leading up to the incident or indeed anyone with information about this incident to contact the police urgently.”
