Students at a Burnley primary school were buzzing on Friday as they dressed up for World Bee Day.

And pupils and staff at St Mary Magdalene’s RC Primary School are planning a bee friendly garden after learning about the essential role they, and other pollinators play, in the eco system. Bees are vital to both pollinate the food we need to survive.

The day is held on the birthday of Anton Janša, the pioneer of beekeeping, who was born in 1734.
