Entries invited for Miss East Lancashire 2012 contest

A BEVY of beauties are getting ready to go head-to-head in a bid to be crowned Miss East Lancashire 2012.

The East Lancashire title will replace the current Miss Burnley and Miss Blackburn competitions and a new junior category has also been announced, allowing girls aged 13 to 16 to take part in the glamorous fashion show and awards ceremony.

Organiser and scout Kerry Capoverde said: “We’ve had a great response to the Miss Blackburn and Miss Burnley events in the past. This year we wanted to put on an even bigger event and make sure we included people from all over East Lancashire.

“We’re delighted to have The Mall in Blackburn as a sponsor too. It means we can offer even bigger prize packages to the winners and make the show even more spectacular.

“We have had a great response for the Miss East Lancashire competition already and are confident that the next Miss England could be hiding in the crowds.

“We’re on a mission to take a look for ourselves and make sure none of the region’s most beautiful ladies have slipped through the net.

“The junior category not only gives 13 to16 year olds the opportunity to take part in a fashion show but also learn more about charity work and volunteering, it’s a real character-building experience.”

Charlotte Pilling, the current Miss Burnley, added: “Taking part last year was such an amazing experience and I know this year will be even better.”

The prestigious title gives opportunity to girls from any background with little or no modelling experience.

The winner of Miss East Lancashire 2012 will, among other prizes, win a place in the Miss England competition where she will have a chance to go onto Miss World, where the main prize is $100,000.

Participants must be aged between 13 and 16 or 17 and 24, and must never have been married or have children.

Anybody wishing to apply can do so online at www.misseastlancashire.co.uk.

The final of Miss East Lancashire is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 21st, at Thwaites Empire Theatre, Blackburn.
