The new Bishop of Blackburn led a service at a Burnley primary school on his latest visit to the town.
The Rt Rev. Julian Henderson visited Holy Trinity CE Primary School in Raglan Road, where he talked to children, staff and governors. Bishop Henderson, who was inaugurated on October 19th and was the former Archdeacon of Dorking, said: “I have been to Burnley a few times now, including the recent Remembrance Sunday service, and always enjoyed my visits here. Since I arrived in Lancashire the people here have been so friendly, warm and welcoming. I have had far too many cakes, baking in Lancashire is like no other.
“Visiting schools is so very important, children are our future. My visit to Burnley is part of my journey across the deanery. It has been non-stop since October.”
Holy Trinity headteacher, the Rev. Catherine Braithwaite, said: “It was wonderful to have Bishop Henderson visit our school.
“The area Dean rang our own vicar Fr Mark Williams to say Bishop Henderson planned to visit. His wife Heather accompanied him and chatted to our infant children.”
