After the latest inspection of Burnley General and the Royal Blackburn Hospitals by health watchdog the Care Quality Commission, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust was found to have made significant improvements. But Prof. Sir Mike Richards and his inspectors warned the Trust still needs to improve further and will continue to receive support to drive up standards at both hospitals after visits in April and May.

They made 13 recommendations for areas which need to be addressed by hospital bosses.
