Duke of Kent visits Barrowford lighting firm

The Duke of Kent, Prince Edward, visited lighting specialists ACDC in Barrowford today describing the business as “a real revolution”.

The Duke appeared impressed with the state-of-the art facilities on the shop floor as he chatted with staff and unveiled a plaque before signing the visitors book and departing into a typically Lancastrian downpour.

He described the visit as “most interesting” and “absolutely fascinating” and wished the company every success in the future.

His Royal Highness seemed particularly keen to learn more about ACDC’s £5m. contract to provide lighting for Muscat International Airport in Oman w2hich was announced in the summer.

The Duke’s Barrowford stop was part of three legged tour of East Lancashire where he opened a new fire station in Burnley and went to valve manufacturers Fort Vale in Simonstone.
