Driver hurt in Simonstone ‘road rage’ fight

A driver had his teeth knocked out as violence erupted in an alleged “road rage” incident in Simonstone.

The 39-year-old Renault Clio driver was injured after a fight broke out with another motorist along Whalley Road in the village last Tuesday.

The fracas was reportedly sparked by an overtaking incident between the motorist and the driver of a Citroen C3, who was also 39 years old.

Witnesses say the pair, both from Simonstone, were trading blows along the main road in full view of other drivers.

The Clio driver ended up having his front teeth knocked out in the scuffle which happened around 3-20pm. The second man suffered minor grazes to his face and hand.

Both men were treated at the scene by paramedics. No arrests were made but police said the driver of the Clio may be interviewed about the incident.
