Driver cut free following head-on collision

A WOMAN had to be cut free from her car after a head-on collision involving two cars in Burnley.

The accident happened in Ormerod Road about 9-20 p.m. on Wednesday, which firefighters, ambulance and police attended.

The woman was driving a Vauxhall Astra cabriolet which had been in collision with a Mazda MX5 containing two young men.

Watch manager Neil Ashworth said: “We think the woman suffered suspected back injuries and slight cuts and bruises. We had to cut away part of the steering wheel to get her out safely.

The woman was then taken to hospital. The passenger also suffered slight cuts and bruises.

Police are now investigating the cause of the accident. Officers closed the road for a short time following the crash.
