Dozens of homes in Clitheroe, Whalley and Billington without water after leak

Homes in parts of Clitheroe, Whalley and Billington have been affected by a water leak which has left them with little or no water since yesterday teatime.

Engineers from United Utilities are currently on the scene repairing the leak near Mill Brook, Clitheroe.

In the meantime, their Water on Wheels tankers have started pumping water into the mains network to stop homes running dry.

Earlier this morning, a spokesman for United Utilities said: "A leak near Mill Brook has been reported to us. Our leakage engineers are currently on the way to repair the leak near Mill Brook. Due to the location and complex repair, the work will be ongoing throughout the day. In the meantime, our Water on Wheels tankers have now started to pump water into the mains network to restore your water supply, however this may be at a lower pressure than normal."
