The Burnley BSAC Scuba Diving Club has won first prize in the BSAC Great British Diving Photo Competition 2016 (above water category) for its shot of Wastwater in the Lake District.

This will mean national coverage for the club in the BSAC’s own publication, the SCUBA magazine, and a £250 equipment voucher as the club’s prize will be used to purchase new equipment to enable members to train more people in scuba diving.

Club chairman Naz Alam said: “Quite a few of us were up on the day. It was sunny, calm and clear. It’s very nice up there.

“As for the club, myself and my brother Nadeem have just become qualified open water instructors.

“We are trying to get more people diving and get better equipment. We have a try dive night at Padiham pool at 8pm on November 8th and people can go to our Facebook page for more information.”
