Detectives rule out third party in Burnley ‘body in skip’ mystery

DETECTIVES investigating the death of a Burnley man whose body was discovered in a skip have ruled out any third party involvement.

Jason Mark Marren (32), also known by the surname Hosker, was found dead at a waste disposal site in Accrington on Monday morning by workers.

A post-mortem examination failed to identify the cause of death and detectives treated the incident as unexplained.

A number of different inquiries have taken place including searching CCTV and speaking to residents.

Police now believe Mr Marren had entered the waste disposal site in Widow Hill Road, Burnley, to retrieve some items.

While on the Heasandford Industrial Estate site he appears to have come into some difficulty and either fallen or collapsed. He was then transported to the Accrington site by one of the waste disposal vehicles.

Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Barrow, from the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “I am satisfied there is no third party involvement in the death of Mr Marren and we will now forward our information to the HM Coroner.

“I would like to thank all those people who came forward and provided information to the inquiry team as they have helped us with our investigation.
