Detectives appeal for help to find Burnley mobile phone robbery gang

Detectives in Burnley are appealing for information after a series of robberies in the area.

Over the past week there have been three separate incidents involving Asian men.

The first happened on Saturday, July 16th, when a man was walking through the subway in Gordon Street, Burnley. He engaged in conversation with a group of men before they attacked him, punching him to his face before stealing his phone.

On Tuesday, July 26th, two teenagers were playing in woods at the back of Burnley College when they were approached by a group of men. One of the boys managed to run away but the other was kicked and punched before having his bag containing his mobile phone stolen.

The third incident took place on Wednesday, July 27th, when a man was walking at the back of Burnley College, near the basketball courts. He was approached by a group of men who tripped him up, repeatedly kicked and then stole his mobile phone.

DC Karen Edwards, of Burnley CID, said: “These are a part of a series of appalling crimes against young teenagers and adults going about their daily business. I urge anyone with any information to come forward.

“These offences are being treated as a priority by Pennine deetectives and I can assure members of the community every avenue will be explored to catch those responsible for these cowardly attacks.”

The offenders are described as Asian, aged between 16 and 25. The 16-year-old offenders are described as having short dark spiky hair, medium build and wearing black clothes. The 25-year-old offenders are described as one being of a stocky build with a shaven head and wearing a dark t-shirt with the second being quite tall, dark hair and of a medium build and wearing a black top with front pockets and a hood.
