Debra Riley walked the 192 miles from St Bee’s to Robin Hood’s Bay, passing through three National Parks (the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors) and raising £1,000 for the hospice where her inspirational brother Iain has been receiving treatment and even married partner Donna there last year.

Debra left husband Andrew at home and took on this adventure with the group North West Walks, who all also made a donation to the hospice.

“He has his golfing holidays anyway, and I wanted to do this for myself and for Pendleside”, she said.

“Pendleside has provided practical interventions, compassion, humour and psychological support to help Iain better manage and cope with the debilitating and distressing symptoms he continually suffers as a result of radical cancer treatments.”

Iain was an occupational therapist and is a very creative man, with his artwork featuring in the “The Clarets Creative Workshops”. He continues to be an inspiration every day to Debra and their family and friends.
