Death smash teen behind wheel of JCB faces jail

A teenager who killed a motorcyclist while at the wheel of a JCB has been warned he faces custody.

Harry Shaw (19) admitted causing the death of father-of-two Craig Foster (42) by careless driving on Blackburn Road, Simonstone, on March 23rd, last year, when he appeared at Burnley Crown Court.

Mr Foster, from Accrington, died at the scene after his Kawasaki ZX6R collided with the digger about 4-30pm. He had been riding to Clayton-le-Moors from Padiham.

Well-known in the area, Mr Foster ran a motor business in Hapton and formerly worked on his father’s butchers stall in Accrington.

Shaw, from Blackburn Road, Simonstone, had originally been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

The defendant, who will be sentenced on July 31st, was bailed and given an interim driving ban by Judge Beverley Lunt.
