Death of Bolton-by-Bowland land-owner and village stalwart

Residents of Bolton-by-Bowland and members of local organisations are mourning the death of Mrs Toni Bosonnet, who has died at the age of 88.

Mrs Bosonnet, who formerly lived in the village, died at the Manor House Nursing Home, Chatburn, where she had lived since 2011.

Previously she had lived in Bolton-by-Bowland.

Mrs Bosonnet was a landowner in the area and her late husband, Mr Leslie Francis Joseph Bosonnet, assisted by acting as her agent for many years.

She was very much involved in the life of her village as a leading member of several organisations.

These included the Women’s Institute, Bolland Garden Club, the village cricket club, the village drama group and the village hall committee, of which she had also been secretary.

Mrs Bosonnet was also a prominent member of Ribble Valley Conservative Association.

The funeral service is being held tomorrow (Wednesday) at St Michael and St John’s RC Church, Lowergate, Clitheroe. Followed by a private burial at Whalley and Wiswell Cemetery.

Mrs Bosonnet leaves a son Christopher, daughter Mrs Margarete Alexander, grandchildren Thomas, Patrick and Kate and great-grand-daughter Eva.

Her family have requested that any donations to be made to the Manor House Nursing Home, in recognition of the care she received there.
