David's flying flag in Europe in the name of charity

Padiham businessman David Price is driving Britain back into Europe, despite the Brexit vote!

David leaves East Lancashire in his 1991 Union Jack liveried Mazda MX5 for Hull and the Rotterdam ferry tomorrow so he can motor to St Quentin in France to take part in the three-day Monte Carlo or Bust banger rally.

David and co-driver and former school friend Jason Hall, of Burnley, are team Fools Britannia and are using the 905-mile rally that starts on Thursday and traverses not only France but also Switzerland and Italy to reach Monte Carlo to raise money for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

David decided to take part in the rally after a friend told him about it last year. Rules stipulate that vehicles must not have a value exceeding £300 so David began trawling ebay to find his car, and spotted the Mazda last Christmas. Luckily, his final bid of £300 secured it.

David, who is MD of property company Mill Homes and construction firm Taylor Price, said: “Wherever we go, kids start pointing at the car and it raises a smile so it does a good job. David’s wife Chrissie is flying out to meet him in Monte Carlo. They then plan to tour Italy in the car before driving it back home.
