Cyclists turn out to ride with Bradley Wiggins
Hundreds of cyclists braved torrential showers and gusting winds on Sunday as they tackled some of Lancashire’s toughest terrain with British cycling legend Sir Bradley Wiggins.
The 2012 Tour de France winner and London Olympic Time Trial gold medallist sounded the klaxon at 7am as the first cyclists set off on the 160km route which included the daunting Trough of Bowland.
Wiggins set off just over an hour later for the 100km route with Laura Trott, Dani King and Rochelle Gilmore from the female Wiggle Honda team, while the 50km riders, including eight-year-old Ben Horgan from Cork in Ireland, were all on the road by 9am.
