More than 100 dogs turned up to enter the eight fun classes ranging from Best Puppy to Fancy Dress. From magnificent mongrels to gorgeous Great Danes a whole host of different sizes, colours and breeds competed to get their paws on some fantastic prizes.

All first and second places were entered into a grand finale where the overall champion was awarded to a special dog named Hammond and reserve champion was Hermione.

On the day, more than £700 was raised for HAPPA to allow the charity to continue to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome horses, ponies and donkeys.

Julie Rickwood-Gan, HAPPA’s Development Officer, said: “It was lovely to see so many people with their canine companions participate for fun.

“The junior handlers’ class was especially great to see - so many young people who clearly love their dog. Everyone who attended had a fabulous time, with many going away with rosettes or prizes.

“A special thank you to all the HAPPA ambassadors who helped run the event, Burnley Borough Council, Pets at Home and everyone who attended.”
