A woman had to be rescued from her Land Rover when it flipped upside down after careering off a Burnley road.

She was travelling along New Road at 8-40am when the Discovery lost control, hit and lamp post and went down an embankment at the side of the road.

Firefighters released her from the vehicle and she was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.

The road was closed for an hour as the highways authority cleared the debris.
