Weapon sweeps carried out at Burnley parks in week of action on knife crime

Police cadets were deployed in Burnley at the weekend carrying out test purchasing and weapon sweeps as part of Operation Sceptre.

Burnley neighbourhood policing team led the operation which is part of a national week of intense action on knife crime. All seven of the shops tested refused to serve plain clothed cadets and no weapons were found in either of the parks searched.
